Easy Pizza

Updated: Oct 10, 2020

A delicious, light but filling meal perfect for a relaxing afternoon.

Pizza. It's one of those things that everyone says they absolutely LOVE and can't go without, but for me I don't see what the fuss is all about. Sure, it's nice to eat a slice of delicious pizza now and then, but I never understood why people said it was like heaven to them. I guess growing up I didn't eat it that often, only sometimes when our soccer season ended and we had celebrated by eating pizza with our teammates.

When I came up with this recipe and ate it, however, it is TRULY HEAVEN. Literally. It's so good, and the best part? It only takes about 10 minutes to make!

First take a flatbread of your choice and heat the "top" side on a hot pan or toaster. I used naan but you can also use regular pizza dough or maybe even pita bread. When we don't have naan(which is most of the time), my mother will make a slightly thicker version of a paratha, or Indian wholewheat flatbread, and use that for our base. You can quickly knead this paratha dough by mixing some wholewheat flour, spices, sesame seeds, salt, water, and oil(recipe for that in progress)!

Then, flip it over onto a plate and spread sauce and cheese all over(I used tomato sauce and mozzarella).

Cuisine: American? Italian?

Course: Lunch/Dinner

Author: Prachi Marfatia

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

1 naan flatbread or pizza dough round of similar size

A small handful of chopped basil(you can use dry, but fresh tastes the best)

approx. 3 tbsp of your favorite pizza sauce(I used tomato)

1/8-1/4 cup cheese(good ones include mozzarella, parmesan, and ricotta)

2 tsp chopped garlic

Directions:

Heat the naan on both sides until crispy but soft. Alternatively, you can use a toaster. Spread your favorite sauce onto the naan evenly but generously. Top with the basil, cheese, and any other topping like olives, mushrooms, or onion. Meanwhile, saute the garlic in some olive oil in the pan. Take it off the heat after 2-4 minutes and sprinkle on the pizza. Transfer the pizza to the pan once more, wait a minute or two, put it on a plate, and enjoy!
